Massachusetts Energy Benchmarking

The State of Massachusetts has the following energy benchmarking laws for various large property types.

Fast facts:

  • June 30th annual deadline

  • 20,000+ sq. ft. commercial, industrial. and multifamily properties

  • Different than other local benchmarking programs, the State requires Utility Providers of electric, gas, and steam to report the information they have on behalf of Building Owners, and requires Building Owners to report any additional Energy Usage, like fuel oil, propane, wood, or on-site solar generation
